Welcome to my page!!
As some of you may know my name is Brittney Levesque and I work at LA Fitness in the north end of Barrie. I was born in Brampton before we moved up north to Port Severn for my high school years and now I currently rent a place in Barrie . I am a 19 year old student enrolled in the Georgian College Fitness and Health program. I have a passion for the gym and living an active lifestyle. Also fun fact, I have a bunny named Snoop and he is a fully trained house bunny.

To start off my post I'd like to explain my blog name because it is a pretty funny story. Ever since I started working at LA my co-workers have been trying to convince me to make a fitness instagram account. They all had a great laugh trying to figure out a "cool" name to call my account. The first name that came to their mind was LA Britness and it has been my new nick name in the workplace ever since. I am currently doing my placement at LA Fitness and I am loving it. When working in any job field it is very important to set goals to reach in order succeed and get the most out of each experience. For my placement I have set 5 SMART goals that I would like to share with you guys.

1. Become a strategic thinker
I will commit to thinking before I react in the workplace to ensure that I always meet the needs of the organization. I will also conduct a meeting with my manager every 2 weeks to insure I am meeting my goals and to talk about what I can improve on.
2. Be a better communicator
I hope to focus on being clear and concise when speaking with clients during my placement. I will conduct my own weekly check in’s to insure I am working towards my goal.
3. Improve my leadership skills
I hope to build strong team leadership skills that help to improve the environment by being a positive aspect to the team. My goal is to be able to independently resolve workplace issues quickly and correctly without having to ask for help or guidance. I will reach this goal by always trying to resolve the issue on my own first then ask for help when I need it.
4. Improve time management skills
I will work to develop good time management skills by getting to my placement 10 min early every time. This will insure it becomes a habit to be early in the workplace. I will track this in my calendar by writing down the time I arrive each day I am at my placement.
5. Improve my self confidence and social anxiety
I want to develop confidence and strength in the workplace when talking with clients.  My goal is to talk to at least 5 people each shift to build confidence in myself.

168 Hours

Hello everyone and welcome back to my page! Ok, so lets talk about time. Im going to assume im not the only one who struggles to find time to relax during the week? I get it life gets busy and school is a pain in the butt sometimes but did you know there is 168 hours in a week? crazy right!! Im gonna talk a bit about how I balance my crazy life of school, work, my placement and of course going to the gym. I can tell you one thing for sure, I do not have a big social life while in school. Although this was very hard to accept at first I have come to realize that it helps me appreciate the free time I do get every week. Before going to bed every night I sit down and use a calendar to plan out what my day will look like. I look at the times I am in school and figure out when I have an hour or two to get to the gym. Most days I wake up early before class and make my way to the gym. If you are a person who struggles to find free time during the day I recommend waking up early. I used...

Fitting in

Welcome back to my blog! Today id like to talk about why fitting in is so important in the workplace. I absolutely love my job, we are all family to each other and I think that is the main reason I enjoy work. When searching for a job it is very important to know who you are and what type of environment you like to work in. For me, I love a fast pace and motivating work environment but that may not be for everyone. In my own experience work has always felt like a chore. I worked in many fast food places as well as serving for fine dining restaurants. Once I got the job at La Fitness I instantly started to enjoy going to work. This was when I finally realized what I wanted to do for my future career. It is important to find what drives you and makes you happy so that you can find the perfect job that works for you. For me, working in a gym is very positive and rewarding. Fitness and health is something that is very important to me and being able to have a career for my passion mak...
